I was sitting out by my pool, and needed to call a friend… the number was in a text file back in my office… so, instead of going back in to get the number….

cat /proc/meminfo

April 16, 2008

If you’re wondering what’s going on with the available memory (RAM) you have on your Asus Eee, then, by all means, get to know: cat /proc/meminfo

Of course, seeing this information, and actually knowing what it’s telling you are two different things. Thankfully, it’s not all that hard to figure out. If you want to know more, click here.

So, I had a bunch of running around to do. (It’s Tax day and all, what else can you expect?) Me being out of the office had little to do with customer demands. I had my VOIP Desk Phone forwarded to my cell phone, and, of course, had my Eee with me.

The calls started coming in early today – for some reason, everyone seemed to be having an “emergency” of some kind (these things tend to come in groups, anyhow). Nothing could wait until I got back home… and traffic pretty much sucked…

“No problem. I am logging into your webserver right now…”

“What? I thought you were out of the office. What gives?”

“What gives? Nothing gives. Why would I let something as petty as my location on this planet interfere with my level of service?”

So, there I was… driving around, Eee connected via my trusty Sprint Card…

A few calls and a couple of hours later, I did a quick mental tally… sure enough, the total amount from billable hours logged on the Eee just today exceeded the amount I paid for the device including the 2 gig memory upgrade.

Looking back, I can’t think of another time in my life where the ROI on a device arrived so quickly.

If you’re thinking of purchasing one of these tools, do so. You won’t regret the decision.

Ok, actually, I don’t really know, or care, if she does. She should, and that’s all that really matters.

Although, I’m pretty sure the Eee is bigger than her swimsuit… ;-)

And, hey… memory upgrades are easier on the Eee!

Ok, that was a bad joke, too.
